SREBRENICA GENOCIDE DENIER: MICHAEL AVERKO (MIKE AVERKO)

Srebrenica Genocide Denier Michael Averko Harrasses a World Renowned Academic, Dr. Marko Attila Hoare

In attempting to portray the deaths of 8,000 to 10,000 Bosniaks (Bosnian Muslims) as an exaggeration or a fabrication, Srebrenica genocide deniers, such as Michael Averko, wildly manipulate geopolitical data, reference works, bedrock historical facts, judicial findings and other sources of information and reportage. Another centerpiece of “revisionist” propaganda attacks the objectivity and legal validity of the International Criminal Tribunal (ICTY) and the International Court of Justice (ICJ), where the general history of the genocide was first established. As such, Michael Averko’s credibility is shattered. Opinion is cheap, everybody has it. Srebrenica genocide is not a matter of anybody’s opinion, it’s a judicial fact.
Srebrenica genocide denier and a collumnist for the Serb-nationalist web site Serbianna, Michael Averko (aka: Mike Averko), has been circulating unsolicited emails trying to discredit a world renowned scholar, Dr Marko Attila Hoare. Apparently, he was upset because Dr Hoare condemned Averko's Srebrenica Genocide denial comments at Global Voices. After embarrassing himself on Global Voices and admitting that he has reduced himself to a Srebrenica genocide denier, he quickly run away to Guardian forums and opened a new topic attempting to rally support from other deniers, revisionists, and conspiracy theorists. As a result, Dr Marko Attila Hoare responded by issuing a statement on his blog, condemning ongoing Srebrenica genocide denial, and Michael Averko's unsolicited spam.

Michael Averko's actions are calculated, but useless, considering that in his E-mail he refers to the United Nation's International Criminal Tribunal "kangaroo court," and praises himself as being "considerably more objective than Hoare." But, even a fool knows that if Michael Averko had any objectivity, dignity, or intelligence, he wouldn't be what he is - a pathetic Srebrenica genocide denier and an apologist for radical ultra-nationalist Serbian politics in the Balkans.

What Srebrenica genocide deniers don't realize is that opinions are cheap, in most cases worthless, as everybody has them. On the other hand, Srebrenica Genocide is a fact. At the end of the day, Michael Averko is irrelevant.

Michael Averko and Serb Villages Around Srebrenica

Michael Averko's comments on Global Voices bring nothing new. In his diatribe, he cites old, discredited, and grossly inflated numbers of Serb victims in villages around Srebrenica; he cites numbers produced by another Srebrenica genocide denier, Milivoje Ivanisevic, claiming that over 3,000 Serbs died there. The International Criminal Tribunal and Serbian Human Rights Watch have already discredited these Serbian claims which amounted to nothing else but propaganda aimed at justification of Genocide against the Bosniak population of Srebrenica.

It is important to note that the 'Serb villages' (many of them ethnically cleansed Muslim villages) were used as military bases from which the Bosnian Serb Army regularly bombarded Srebrenica civilians and used them to cut off medical and food supplies to the Enclave. In 1992, the Bosnian Serb Army destroyed all Muslim villages around Srebrenica and brutally killed those Muslims who refused to leave their homes. Many Muslims were beheaded and thrown into the Drina river by the Bosnian Serb Army. And this happened long before Srebrenica defender, Naser Oric, launched defensive counter-attacks against the Serb Army to save starving Bosniak population of Srebrenica.

Serbian nationalist websites and blogs are posting old same photos of killed Bosnian Serb civilians and soldiers attributing their deaths to "Muslim" crimes around Srebrenica. But they also use photos of Bosniak victims and portray them as 'Serb victims.'

Michael Averko's Genocide Denial Lobby Contacts

In his unsolicited E-mail to Dr Hoare, Averko also revealed rather interesting names on his distribution list. His Carbon Copy contacts contain names of people in Srebrenica genocide denial movement which, among others, include Edward Herman (aka: Ed Herman), Srdja Trifkovic, Diana Johnstone, James Jatras, Nebojsa Malic, David Binder, Julia Gorin, Jared Israel, George Bogdanich and various members of the Srebrenica Research Group and ICDSM ('International Committee to Defend Slobodan Milosevic').

Dr Hoare has published these e-mails on his blog, but he was polite enough to edit them with "NOSPAM" message. However, we are re-publishing Srebrenica genocide denial lobby's unsolicited e-mail contacts in their original formal (with exeption of E-mails belonging to Dr Marko Hoare, Global Voices and its editors, who certainly don't belong to this group).

PS: Unfortunately, no circus is complete without all clowns. In other words, they are missing Darko Trifunovic on their contact list!
